The Junior Sailing Program at Silver Gate Yacht Club offers a unique sailing opportunity for kids from 8 to 16. Whether a first-time beginner or and experienced sailor, kids will have personalized instruction in our fleet of modern dinghies and keel boats. All kids are welcome, club membership is not required and use of our boats is included. Silver Gate Yacht Club is located on Shelter Island in San Diego and is convenient to much of the metropolitan San Diego area.

SGYC Jr. Sailing wins Garrett Horder Memorial Trophy!!

We’re very excited and proud to announce The Pacific Coast Yachting Association has awarded the 2021 Garrett Horder Trophy to the Junior Sailing Program at Silver Gate Yacht Club. This award given annually recognizes a youth program providing excellence in sailing and boating education. Competition was among the top junior sailing programs on the Pacific coast from San Diego to Vancouver, BC! It’s tremendously gratifying to receive this recognition of the hard work our volunteers, members, and instructional staff have given to make our program so great!
