DONATIONS TO THE SILVER GATE JUNIOR SAILING PROGRAM
The Junior Sailing Program at Silver Gate Yacht Club survives and thrives on the generous donations from our members and participant families. With a fleet of 25 boats and related gear, motors, sails, and safety equipment there is always something in need of repair or replacement. Your kind donations of cash, boats, motors, cars, and marine equipment allow us to keep our fleet in top notch shape a provide an exciting and safe experience for the kids we serve.
The SGYC Junior Sailing Program operates under the SGYC Foundation which is chartered as a 501c3 not for profit corporation. This means that your donations are eligible for all the tax advantages applicable to your personal tax situation.

Cash donations in any amount are always greatly appreciated.
- Checks should be made payable to: SGYC Foundation, with Junior Sailing in the memo.
- Credit and debit cards donations can be processed over the phone with the Club office.

CARS, SUVs, TRUCKS
We have an account with CARS, Inc. – www.careasy.org. They make donating your car, truck or SUV very easy. You simply give them a call at 855-500-7433 and let them know your donation is benefitting the Silver Gate Yacht Club Foundation, Junior Sailing. They will take all the information about the donation and schedule a pick-up time. They sell the vehicle, and we get the profit! Easy!
BOATS & MOTORS
Your boat or outboard motor is a welcome donation. In some cases, we are able to use the donated equipment in our program. When the boat or equipment is not appropriate for our direct use, we will sell it in a directed effort (in the case of larger boats) or at our annual Swap Meet - usually the first Saturday in August - and Junior Sailing benefits from the profits. Give us a call when you are ready to donate, and we’ll do all we can to make it a simple process.
MARINE EQUIPMENT
We are happy to receive all types of marine equipment donations. As with boats and motors, in some cases we can use this equipment directly in our program. If we can’t use it we will sell it either at our annual Swap Meet held in early August each year, or we will sell it in a directed effort. Let us know what you have, and we will make arrangements for drop-off or pick-up.
Whatever your donation, we are happy to prepare a letter acknowledging the donation and providing our tax ID information. Please let us know when you make your donation that you would like to have this letter.
